How do I fix my job search dilemma?
Kingfish asked:
We have all heard about the two job search dilemmas: “Experience but no Degree” or “Degree but no Experience”
Well my problem is the second one “Degree but no Experience” I got my Business Administration degree when I was 24 (2001) and I am now about to turn 32. Three years ago, when I was searching really hard, I did land some interviews for decent jobs, and I even felt some of those interviews went well. But I still didn’t get the offers, and I am currently a baggage handler for a major airline.

If I want to leave my current job, how can I fix my “Degree but no Experience” dilemma?

THE THINK YOU DO IS DO INTERNSHIPS. SOME PEOPLE GET THEIR DEGREES ONLINE AND THEY SAY THE SAME THING “NO EXPERIENCE” YOU SHOULD DO INTERNSHIPS IN WHAT EVER YOUR TRYING TO GET A JOB AT AND THAT WILL COUNT AS EXPERIENCE.

the proble right now aint you, it’s the economy.
I’m 29 with an associates degree and ton of work experience. I still have had no luck finding a job that will pay better than 10.60 per hour.,

1. do a functional (not chronological) resume
2. do some volunteer work that applies to your profession
3. join professional groups- toastmasters, etc.
4. get allist of “transferrable skills” and start writing them up (in the “skills summary of the resume)
5, Start networking, going on informational interviews
email me if you want more tips- I’ve taken several job-hunting courses in the last few months and have learned some really interesting methods for resume writing- interviewing.
Good Luck!
you’ll need it w/the current unemployment rate!
